Washington Park

Location & identity

Where Providence meets the bay

Washington Park sits on Providence’s southern edge, between I-95, the Cranston line, Roger Williams Park, and the Providence River waterfront. It takes its name from a horse racing track that once stood here in the 1800s.

Most of its homes were built from the late 1800s through the 1940s, along side streets off Broad Street and Narragansett Boulevard, as waterfront industry brought new jobs to the area.

Lifestyle & vibe

Where to spend your time

  • Fields Point: home to Save The Bay’s headquarters and views of the bay

  • Roger Williams Park: right next door, with lakes, the zoo, and walking paths
  • Broad Street: shops, restaurants, and services
  • Johnson & Wales Harborside Campus: a waterfront campus nearby

Washington Park feels residential and relaxed, with the bay on one side and the city’s biggest park on the other.
